26 SKY SAILOR November | December 2020 by Kev & Carole MacNally SA/Rotax Maintenance Course held at Teewah, QLD, was finally completed over Monday, 17 and Tuesday, 18 August 2020. PPG, WM and three-axis owners attended this weekday course, and thankfully only one of the original attendees was unable to make the new dates, but it did allow us to include an extra person from our SE QLD waiting list. However, as soon as we did this, we were asked by two more to be included, so we have the start of a waiting list once more. The Queensland Covid-19, 50km travel limit restrictions had prevented us from holding this course at the end of March, so our attendees have had a long wait to finally complete it. Charles flew his Savannah in and set up his matching tent for an overnight stay. It’s a lovely looking, well-built aircraft and he had plenty of interest in it during the breaks. There was a fair bit of networking going on over lunch- time and during the breaks which is always good to see. The atmosphere was really good and sometimes the mix between disciplines and different organisations prompts some interesting conversations. We must say a big thank you to Paul Reilly for once again organising this course at Teewah, and for helping us set up the classroom area on the Sunday. Also, thank you to David Rawson for allowing us the use of his two-stroke once again. David attended as a refresher this time, and was joined by Paul and John Elcock who also came back to refresh their knowledge and pick up any new information added since their last course. Even since the last Teewah course, there have been changes to the Rotax manuals. Thank you also to CFI Dave Cookman, for allowing us the use of his school Airborne M3 for the 912 practicals on Tuesday. One of our attendees, Klaeton Sheehan, surprised everybody on the second day, when he came in and gave away caps and a very nice power bank/torch to everyone attending the course. It was a gesture very well received by everyone, and we will certainly be using ours for future Networking at its best Charles’ Savannah with matching tent Diff pressure check Filter check
