SAFA Skysailor Magazine

5 March | April 2021 SKY SAILOR Potenup sunset, WA Photo: Keith Lightbody authorities, supports the event and it will also receive media coverage. Babs and her Committee have marshalled a large number of volunteers for the two days including, importantly, a good number of suitably qualified tandem pilots. A shuttle bus will operate, and a food/BBQ tent will ensure there is plenty of ‘socially distant socialising’ over the weekend. The Victorian Covid-19 experience has been more challenging for its people than in most other parts of Australia, and likewise the impact on our members and their flying. The Skyhigh club has shown remarkable fortitude and resilience in the face of a rapidly changing and uncertain pandemic environment, to push forward and implement this terrific initiative. In particular, the determination and self-belief of President Babs deserves to be rewarded with success. The Skyhigh club has also provided a roadmap for similarly motivated clubs across Australia. Initiatives like these are an investment of time and effort in the future we’d all like to create for our sport – well done Skyhigh! Member Engagement Process Much needed work has progressed on improving the manner in which SAFA engages with our membership on matters of importance. The Operations team have prepared a recommended process which the Board will consider at the earliest convenience. Once approved we will provide an Airwaves to all members advising the suggested process and inviting member feedback. Airservices Australia Class ‘E’ Airspace Change Proposal Thank you to all members, State/Regional Associations and clubs who submitted an objection to this disappointing proposal. Airservices have advised that more than 1000 submissions were received. This is a powerful response, and we can only hope they heed those many and varied stakeholder voices that have reacted so passionately. Safe flying.
