HGFA Skysailor Magazine

24 SKY SAILOR July | August 2019 T his course was a 50/50 mixture between two-stroke and four-stroke participants with GA, GFA, ASRA, RAAus and HGFA members in attendance. A couple of attendees travelled 10 hours by car from Victoria, with everyone else being from SA and most have (unusually) already expressed an interest in coming back at some stage to sit in for a refresher. After keeping a wary eye on the changeable weather, we were very lucky over the weekend, which stayed dry and relatively warm for us SE Queenslanders. Kev Cowie and Barry Hazelwood came back for a refresher course this time and we must say a big thank you to Barry for allowing us to use his 912 for the practicals and to Kev for sitting at the controls while we ran through the carb synch, as Barry was unable to, due to recovering from a motor vehicle accident. Refreshers are always welcome and come back free of charge. We just ask that they step back from the practicals to allow those attending for the first time to complete their practical training. Our course is always evolving with constant updates from Rotax to incorporate, including the new 582 servicing schedule, plus anything else that we deem important to pass on to those attending, such as safe practices for re-fuelling aircraft. We still cover the service requirements for both the 2 two-stroke and four-stroke over the two days, so WM/Rotax Maintenance Course: Strathalbyn, SA 13 and 14 April 2019 Another successful course was completed on Sunday, 14 April, at Strathalbyn, SA, with CFI Larry Jones hosting the course once again (the 10th here, since November 2014) and the Southern Districts Flying Club offering us the use of their clubrooms for the weekend. by Kev MacNally Two-stroke bearing check Two-stroke carb synch Two-stroke practicals
