Some of the matters considered included: • • Acknowledging the pain and uncertainty this pandemic is having on our members, schools, volunteers and staff – this is particularly exacerbated in Victoria. • • The need to find a financially responsible balance in terms of how we manage the assets of our members. • • Uncertainty around the pandemic journey and the difficulty in seeing where and when that journey ends. • • The rapidly changing national, state and regional authority responses to managing the pandemic. • • The current make-up of our revenue mix which for the moment remains heavily dependent on membership subscriptions. • • Actions we have taken and are continuing to take in relation to managing our expenditure. • • Some historical context, explaining how the annual fee has effectively diminished in real terms, as a result of the fee remaining at 2012 levels. • • The importance of understanding that SAFA ‘bills’ apply to the sport as a whole – we don’t have the ability to switch insurance, for example, on or off depending on state or regional factors. The nature of the policies mean that we can only cover all members or we cover none. President’s Update by Paul Green
