SKY SAILOR 15 November | December 2019 saw Airborne USA with their M3-Sport on display, as well as lots of powered paraglider stalls, complete with trial harness stands, gyros, mini one-seat helicopters and various kit manufactures. At one evening event, we counted 21 PPGs in the air, against a setting sun, which was quite spectacular. The trikes were kept busy within the limited time they had to conduct tiffs. I managed to go flying in Amy’s purple Revolt this year with Larry, so saw the Fun Fly Zone from the air for the first time. Even from the back seat, it was very differ- ent from the trike I usually fly (P&M Quik). The passenger seat in this trike has a very elevated position, compared to any other trike we’ve seen, so the view over the top of the pilot’s head is panoramic, having no front strut, and the separate windscreen for the passenger eliminated any buffeting. The handling appeared to be very light, even in themild turbulence. Unfortunately, as always, it was over too quickly and the experience became a happy memory. Coincidently, whilst we were in circuit there was a call from ATC for a C5 ‘heavy’ on late final – that’s a Galaxy to you and me. It was on a different runway, but we all managed to sight it without too much trouble! This year Larry and Amy had four models on show: The REV (Ultralight) and REV X (Experimental) single-seater trikes (with comfy seats) as well as Revolt (Light Sport Aircraft) and the original Revo, also LSA (the yellow Bumble Bee, flown in by Wes). On a subsequent catch-up, wewere standing chatting to Amywhen someone came to the Revo stand to look at the Rev. Larry appeared out of the RV and very, very quickly (Carole only just managed to get her camera going to take some photos) moved the folded Rev into the ready-to-fly mode. We couldn’t believe how quickly this was done. The following photos probably don’t do it justice, but will give you some idea of how easy it was to do. REV X Revolt The Rev-X was all neatly tied up on the dolly Then someone showed an interest in it… …and Larry leapt into action!
