10 SKY SAILOR November | December 2019 Jasmine was awarded a bottle of champagne for ‘Best Tandem Passenger’, surviving an hour and 45 minutes – she has a very strong stomach. I’ve had some amazing flights with Roger’s Skyout tours, and some epic flights in Australia, but this has to be the the most spectacular of all – sharing this experience with my daughter. I will never forget this, and I don’t think Jasmine will either. It is the reason I got my tandem licence – to be able to share the experience with others, especially family. There’s something about taking a passenger up, they get to experience the freedom of flight, floating on the winds – something we take for granted after many years of flying – it tends to remind you how spectacular our sport is, and the buzz we got on our first flight. Later that week, I also took my wife Cindy on a tandem flight at Elfer. She was very nervous of flying and fought her anxiety on launch. Yet, she trusted me to look after her in the air. With views of Mt Serles and snow-capped mountains, we had an awesome flight, chasing thermals before landing at the LZ, with jelly legs.
