30 SKY SAILOR May | June 2020 H owever, the introduction of tighter measures announced by the Govern- ment as Stage One, on the 23 March, (the day after the Heck Field course) followed closely by Stage Two on 25 March, meant that we had to cancel/postpone the second Teewah course (initially set for 30 March to 1 April). The Strathalbyn, SA, course scheduled for 16 to 17 May was also postponed after Stage Three was announced on 30 March, followed by State border closures and subsequent commercial flight cancel- lations. The Heck Field course was a new venue for us, due to Ric wishing to do a refresher course. He’d arranged with the Gold Coast Sports Flying Club for us to use their clubrooms for the classroom side of the course and we used the hangar he was in for the practicals. Luckily we had enough space to spread out in the classroom, and with excellent washroom facilities, it was very easy to keep up with constant hand-washing and hand-sanitiser use. We had eight attendees plus Ric as a refresher with a mix of two-stroke and four-stroke owners. All but one were RAAus pilots (both weightshift and three-axis owners) with varying degrees of maintenance knowledge. Thank you to Dale for allowing us the use of his Airborne Edge Classic for the two-stroke practicals and to Ric for the use of his pride and joy Airborne XT-912 Tundra trike. The clubhousewas fairly busy over theweekend, so we had a number of local pilots taking an interest in the course, as they came in to get their coffees, etc. I’m sure we will be back here again to run another course once the restrictions are lifted and we have free travel once again.
