This means that it is your personal responsibility as a pilot to monitor and manage any medical fitness factors that affect your fitness to fly. The document ‘Assessing fitness to drive’ lists the following specific conditions as likely to affect driving ability: ➲ ➲ blackouts ➲ ➲ cardiovascular disease ➲ ➲ diabetes ➲ ➲ musculoskeletal conditions ➲ ➲ neurological conditions such as epilepsy, dementia and cognitive impairment due to other causes ➲ ➲ psychiatric conditions ➲ ➲ substance misuse/dependency ➲ ➲ sleep disorders ➲ ➲ vision problems.
