SKY SAILOR 37 May | June 2018 Y ou go to see an expert. He wants to start his research with a Dynomometer and Exhaust Gas Emissions. Put your credit card on standby. And then you think that your paraglider doesn't seem as easy to launch, as it used to be. You go to see an expert. He suggests a Line Stretch, a Porosity Meter or a new wing. Check your card limit. At the risk of being considered a smart-arse and a cheap-skate (sadly, both true), how long has it been since the car had a new air filter? And how long since you checked the weight of your wing? There is a published ‘new weight’ figure for that wing. If yours exceeds that by more than 200g, you know where to start looking. This week two paragliders came back from Cobra launch training for an hour on a beach. Each contained over 600g of sand. They still flew, but boy were they slow! Makes you wonder if we should put air filters on our wings… Western Australia 600g of sand and a 160g piece of rock found in a wing last year L O L There comes a time when you notice your car is losing grunt and seems to use more and more fuel too… Human Factors Air (the environment) - Man (I’m safe) - Ship (the aircraft) I’M SAFE I llness?
