32 SKY SAILOR May | June 2018 Nova Prion 4 EN/LTF A – The New A-Class With the Prion 4, Nova aimed to design a wing that makes learning to fly as simple as possible, but remain a joy to fly for a long time after training. The Prion 4 is a completely new design. It offers the simplest of launch and landing characteristics, a high level of roll dampening, great handling and performance. Thanks to a new cloth, it also weighs 500g less than its predecessor. The Prion 4 is a modern EN/LTF A, but much more than a pure school wing – basically the new A-class. With maximum passive safety, it offers high glide performance and is fun to fly. In 2015, team pilot Robert Schaller flew a 209km FAI triangle on a Prion 3. A world record in this glider category. On launch, the few, sheathed main lines are quickly and easily sorted. The risers make preparations simple and safe: left and right are colour-coded and the back and front of the risers marked. In the air, the lines for big ears and a B-line stall are also indicated. The adjustable brake handles are colour-coded and additionally marked with L and R. Overall, the Prion 4 is perfect to begin your paragliding journey and accompany pilots long after leaving school. More at [www.nova.eu/prion-4 ]. Till Gottbrath, NOVA Nova Ion 5 EN B – Evolution Of A Legend For years, the Ion has defined the high performance/ low aspect ratio EN B class. Ion 5 stays true to this: Nova improved in comparison to the Ion 4 by further developing the profile, optimising the ballooning and wingtips and added swept stabilo cells. The Ion 5 inherited its simple launch and landing characteristics, itshighlevelofpassivesafety, comfort and reassuring dampening from its predecessor. However, it has better glide performance across the entire speed range and more direct responses to brake input with reduced brake pressure. In the air, Ion 5 is balanced, uncomplicated and uniform. The semi-light construction makes it suitable for hike & fly and travel. The size S weighs only 4.65kg (weight-range 80-100kg) as a result of a new cloth: the new DOKDO 20D is 2g/m 2 lighter and more durable in terms of strength as well as porosity. The sum of these makes the Ion 5 a wing for all occasions – an XC machine, fun flyer, teacher and gentle acrobat, all in one. Available in five sizes with a weight range from 55 to 130kg.
