16 SKY SAILOR May | June 2018 During the annual festival, the launch is open all day for all pilots, with extra ease of pre-organised bus tickets, frequent shuttles to launch, free entry on the forestry roads, assistance from launch and landing marshals, and a well-equipped rescue team on standby with paramedics, coast guards, speed boats, ambulances and helicopters for any mishaps and emergencies. Babadag contains a variety of launches, facing each direction at heights from 1200 to 1900m to allow for times when strong wind or cloud restrict the higher launches. The site is perfect for scenic, easy soaring over the Mediterranean, excellent height over water enables safe SIV and aerobatic training, while the coastal proximity makes cross- country challenging, but skill is rewarded with distance through high inland peaks and plateaus. This makes Oludeniz suitable for all pilot levels, as well as for the whole family with endless activities throughout the gorgeous Mediterranean coastline. Each May, the Spring Festival kicks off the flying season, with excellent conditions throughout all summer, and finishing the season with the Air Games, being held again this year from 16 to 21 October 2018 – a spectacular flying event for all pilots to add to the calendar.
