9 March | April 2021 SKY SAILOR like the champion meathead he is, often ably assisted by one or more of his children up front. We were often restricted to flying around the Corryong valley due to the wind direction and strength and the fact that we couldn’t go into NSW, however, we did have a task up to Walwa and back to goal in Corryong. The wind picked up on Thursday and Friday so we didn’t fly. Along with other pilots, I was looking forward to a day off anyhow. This year’s competition was a great success despite the missing NSW and QLD pilots. We had great weather, good tasks, and lots of happy enthusiastic pilots. The focus of the Corryong Cup has always been on pilots new to competition, not the seasoned ‘guns’, so it was great to see several top level pilots helping and sharing knowledge with the newbies. Also great to see Blenky back flying again (those road bikes are dangerous). Those who have been to the Corryong Cup before know what an awesome week of flying with mates it is. It’s also a great environment to learn new flying skills alongside some of the country’s best HG pilots. Book your holidays now. Corryong will be on again next year 8 to 15 January 2022.
