30 SKY SAILOR March | April 2018 F lying paddock dis- cussions and conver- sations with many new pilots lead us to believe that Victoria needed a paramotor club that was open to absolutely everyone and had a real focus on flying and having fun in a safe and legal environment. Our club believes you don’t need to compromise safety or bend rules to enjoy the amazing privilege of flying a paramotor in our state. And that’s what we aim to do: promote safety and education and, most of all, have fun! Members enjoy flying from fully legal sites, including three private airstrips, two of which are also suitable for the odd micro- or ultralight, as well as all manner of wheeled PPGs. The club flying site at the Knowsley Air Park (40km south of Bendigo) is one of these. North of the Great Dividing Range, it is in a terrific local micro-climate that provides ideal PPG flying over 200 days a year, has winch facilities for free flying and an active group of motor launching, thermal chasing pilots to go out midday XC free-flying with. Even better, the locals are very experienced PPG pilots who have flown all over Australia and are always keen to meet new flying buddies. Our club has a great range of these experienced pilots, some with over 20 years of flying experience, including Club Mentors, HGFA Safety Officers and Senior Safety Officers, a HGFA Apprentice Flight Victoria has a new Paramotor (PPG) club. Friendly, welcoming blokes from all over Victoria just wanting to fly their paramotors in the beautiful Australia air and explore the incredible countryside we call home. With club members from all over the state, including Melbourne, Bendigo, Gippsland, Horsham and many other places, there will always be somewhere new to fly and someone new to fly with. by Justin Shaw – President Victorian Blue Skies Paramotor Club “Come join us, we love to fly!”
