22 SKY SAILOR March | April 2018 SCSA: Flying At Sunrise Beach – Requirements The Tingira Crescent launch had a Holfuy weather station and cam installed. A link is available on the club website [sunshinecoastsportsaviators.com.au ]. The station was installed as part of the manage- ment plan for the site agreed with Noosa Council and as a SCSA initiative to help us keep the site and improve outcomes for residents. The plan still awaits formal confirmation from Council, until we receive acceptance, we ask all pilots to: ➲➲ Strictly observe the mandatory CASA/HGFA vertical and horizontal separation requirements from property, and ➲➲ avoid flying over/in the vicinity of the properties shown in the image below – residents in this area are most affected by our activity and diligent in recording and reporting incursions. The Holfuy station has a twofold purpose: ➲➲ To aid pilots and visitors, and ➲➲ to assist SCSA to better manage flying activity at the site. News Australia Day Award – Forbes Flatlands 2018 We were presently surprised and quite delighted to receive the ‘Ambassador’ award for our contribution to the Forbes local community presented from the Forbes Rotary Club. Len and Kirsten Paton were at the ceremony in Forbes on Australia Day attended by 300 people. Runners up were the Forbes Rugby Club for winning the regional premiership, Yellow Bee for developing the local honey factory, a boutique wine maker, and other rural community projects… All other recipients came up and received a framed certificate from the Mayor, Graham Miller, after the MC gave some background to their achievement. After all were presented with their certificates, the ‘Forbes Flatlands’ was called last: “And the winner is…” This award belongs to our whole team and the hang gliding community who make this event possible year after year. Special thanks to Len and Kirsten for being there to accept the award! Vicki Cain, Moyes Gliders Our thanks to Shawn Morris and Paul Reilly for researching alternatives before acquiring the Holfuy from its European manufacturers and for his and Dave Cookman’s work to install it on site. SCSA will look to install more Holfuy stations at other sites, subject to landowner permissions.
