SKY SAILOR 21 July | August 2020 Our clubs Our affiliated clubs play a huge role in site management, pilot mentoring, organising social activities and providing safety officers and senior safety officers. Currently the following clubs are affiliated with HGPWA: ➲ ➲ Cloudbase – catering to paragliding pilots in the Perth region ➲ ➲ Hillflyers – mostly hang glider pilots, aimed at those who prefer hill flying to towing, and mostly in the Perth region ➲ ➲ WA Skypirates – a powered paragliding club ➲ ➲ Goldfields Dust Devils – based in Kalgoorlie, the Dusties have a number of tow sites in the goldfields and eastern wheat belt, they are the people to call if you are thinking about flying Esperance. ➲ ➲ SW Airsports – our newest club and a very active one. SWA look after Bunbury and are developing new sites inland and coastal in the SW region ➲ ➲ Western Soarers – a Perth based club with a focus on towing and cross-country flying ➲ ➲ Albany Club – look after Shelly Beach, Sandpatch and Parry’s Beach sites, and are very active in the aerotowing game. All of our clubs have a representative on the HGPAWA committee of management. Come over and see us some time The borders may be closed right now, but they won’t be forever. Maybe this summer, you really should come and see us when all this is sorted. It really isn’t all that far. Well actually, it is really far, but it’s a lovely drive, and when you finally get here you’ll be very welcome. You won’t have to join any clubs to fly any of our sites because you’ve paid your SAFA fee and your RA levy after all, and surely that’s enough, isn’t it?
