6 SKY SAILOR January | February 2020 On task traversing the Swiss Alps Biv style, they have hot showers, bars, restaurants and cafes right at your tent entrance. From the spectacular ski field launch site at La Clusaz, France, we flew a task into the Chamonix valley and then on into Switzerland. We successfully navigated cloud capped peaks, ice ridges with spectacular views of Mt Blanc, rocky cols, remote perched frozen lakes, and glacial flows. We all landed in the Swiss town of Verbier. This valley was everything that comes to mind when I think of Switzerland – crisp snow-coveredmountain tops, beautiful green Alpine pastures with grazing cows, and cow bells echoing across the valley. The language, beer and culinary choices were diverse each day, and so it became a highlight of each evening for the group to venture out to indulge in the local delights offered.
