32 SKY SAILOR March | April 2020 S uccess was largely due to the continued efforts of Paul Reilly, who acted as host for this course. In addition to this, he also had to reorganise the attendees, once they got wind of a potential second course to be held during the week, towards the end of March. On this course we ended up with nine attendees, as we already had eight booked in, when another was unable to attend the later event in March. Tony, from Gympie, also came along as a refresher on this course which brought the total number up to 10. The venue was not an easy one to get to, the only access is via ferry over the Noosa River followed by a fairly long drive along unsealed track. Once again, Paul came to the rescue and gave us a lift each day, picking us up at the ferry. On our journey across, it was great to see the grass already recovering from being burnt by the bush fires on our previous trip. We must thank the two course attendees who allowed us the use of their trikes for the practicals – Dave Rawlings for his 582, and Matt Savage for his 912. Also, a big thank you to Steve Beale who rescued the course when the hangar compressor failed to supply more than 50psi for the differential pressure check. He hooked up his OKA (a fantastic machine, which you can see in action on youtube, complete with trike, tinny and a couple of bikes all on the trailer): DB Adventures Ep 2 Lorella Springs Part 1 [ youtube.com/watch?time_conti nue=2639&v=3tEw162oOmE&feature= emb_logo] . We watched the video the other day and what a great way to travel around Australia. Certainly my kind of camping! This course, and the two booked in for March, will bring the number of Queensland courses up to eight, in fourth place behind SA, NSW and WA, but above Victoria for the first time. Future courses 2020: ➲ ➲ Heckfield, QLD – Saturday 21 to Sunday 22 March ➲ ➲ Teewah, QLD – Monday 30 to Tuesday 31 March ➲ ➲ Strathalbyn, SA – Saturday 16 to Sunday 17 May Sport Aviation & Rotax Maintenance Course Teewah, QLD – Take 3 Our third attempt was suc- cessful and the course was finally completed over the weekend of 1 and 2 February. After two cancellations, first due to bush fires, then due to attendees availability, it was a great relief to finally get the course up and running for this new venue in SE Queensland. by Kev MacNally Photo: L-R – Russell Groves, Tony Hanlon, Mike Ashton, Steve Beale, Matt Savage, Scott Hendry, Kim LeGros, Paul Reilly, Dave Rawson and Kade Savage Four-stroke differential pressure test Matt Russell Dave and Paul on the two-stroke
