SAFA Skysailor Magazine

31 January | February 2021 SKY SAILOR thorough inspection and cleaning. Trev had used Inox for corrosion protection, but this does need to be removed from any rubber parts. Trev has since downloaded the SAFA WM Aircraft Logbook (found in the ‘Documents’ area of the SAFA website/ Members area). Consisting of three sections, Aircraft, Engine and Wing, it complies with the SAFA Operations Manual, which states that we must have a separate Engine and Wing Logbook for WM aircraft. A single entry of ‘100hr engine service c/o i.a.w. Rotax MML, refer Annex A’ in the Engine logbook was all that was required, with the Rotax Schedule servicing sheets in the back of the aircraft logbook ring binder. This also makes it easier to check what has previous- ly been done to the aircraft. Note: Any rectification would need to be entered and signed for separately. Although we were only there to do the engine service, Kev noticed that Trevor’s XRS wing still had the clear heatshrink over the wire ferrules which had the beginnings of corrosion forming inside. Trev was advised to remove the heatshrink so that he could clean and inspect the ferrules and apply a suitable corrosion inhibitor. When we finished it was great to hear that Trev felt more confident in being able to complete his next service.
