Manilla XC Camp 23 to 30 January Location: Mt Borah, Manilla, NSW. The Manilla XCC 2021 is on standby pending Covid travel and group restrictions being lifted Free event for XC PG pilots of all levels. Informal distances scored using your choice of online system or straight line Open Distance off your GPS. Come for as many days as you like, fly as far as you can, fly with and learn from some of the best XC pilots. Many pilots achieve PBs in Manilla each year. Mt Borah has four astro-turfed launches for nearly all wind directions, easy landings. The area offers some of the world’s safest XC flying for all pilot levels (from Nov with some thermalling experience). Daily weather briefings, tips and trick sessions, camp fire discussions, regular day prizes and scoring updates in all classes (Fun/Sport/Serial). Open Class gliders welcome, but won’t be scored. Sanction: SAFA AAA / FAI Cat2 One of three legs of the Australian Nationals of the 2020-21 season. The Open will consist of one round which will count towards a pilot’s WPRS score. Sanction: SAFA AAA / FAI Cat2 Held at Mt Elliot, the Corryong Open is a high level comp, the final AAA event of the Australian season, with 450 ladder points available. It’s aimed at experienced inland intermediate to advanced rated pilots. Pilots need to arrange their own retrieve drivers. April Birchip Flatter than the Flatlands 2 to 5 April, Easter Location: Birchip, VIC. Hang glider pilots are invited to the 28th Flatter than the Flatlands cross-country towing competition. The event will be conducted over the four day Easter long weekend. Entry fee: $80, includes daily prizes, presentation BBQ, scoring, goal beers and lots of fun. GPS and parachute required. This SAFA C sanction comp is a great way for Novice (PG2/3) to get into competition and XC flying in a fun and safe way. It’s about the promotion of skills and safety. The comp is based on ‘Flying Crews’ (5 pilot teams, one PG5, two PG2/3 plus two other pilots) – so get your crew together. Handi- capping is used for scoring. Entry fee: $30.
