SAFA Skysailor Magazine

15 January | February 2021 SKY SAILOR Working closely with our affiliated NSW clubs remains important, and all clubs are encouraged to provide the NSWHPA with annual financial budgets to better facilitate financial planning. For many years, via a grant process, the NSWHPA has received annual support from the NSW Office of Sport for general administration, governance improvement and professional development of the Committee of Management to assist them in fulfilling their duties. After a competitive bid process, the NSWHPA has chosen a provider to deliver one or two days of custom training in late 2020 to improve the communication, presentation, public speaking, meeting effectiveness and interacting with public bodies competencies of the pilot volunteers serving on the CoM. Elements of this program may subsequently be made available to the volunteers on the Executive of the clubs throughout NSW, to assist them in optimising their efforts to drive results. Let us know if you are keen. Developing new ideas on promoting our amazing sport, attracting new people and addressing pilot retention are our key drivers at the NSWHPA and this guides every activity and investment we make. In our view, there has never been a better time to commission the formal development and funded implemen- tation of a clear ‘Go to Market’ growing our sport plan on a national basis, driven by SAFA in close cooperation with all State associations. About the NSWHPA The NSW Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association Inc. (NSWHPA) is an incorporated association, registered with the NSW Department of Fair Trading (INC# Y199518; ABN 94298083179). The NSWHPA operates under the NSW Department of Fair Trading Model Constitution and is regulated by the NSW Associations Incorporation Act 2009-7 and the NSW Associations Incorporation Regulation 2010. Incorporated in 1987, the NSW Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association has been serving the flying community for more than 32 years. Aims and objectives are to foster and encourage the operation of hang gliders, paragliders and weight-shift mi- crolights for educational and recreational sporting purposes. This also encompasses other forms of flying such as moto- rised hang gliding and powered paragliding. The NSWHPA further promotes competitions, fly-ins, pilot skill and safety development and supports clubs and training facilities in NSW. The NSWHPA is both an Affiliated Association with, and the NSW Regional body of SAFA. Pilots, next time you see a CoM member on the hill, please thank them for their volunteer work – some are doing 10 or more hours every week to support their fellow NSW pilots and have done so for many years, so please say ‘Hi’ if you can. Even better, come and join the CoM to give back to the sport that gives us all so much pleasure.
