SKY SAILOR 3 January | February 2019 C elebrating 20 successful years of competitions, the Bright Open will take place at the renowned Mystic Flight Park site in Bright, the location of the recent Paragliding World Cup. The event will also use the Buckland Ridge and Gundowring sites. The seven-day competition will host more than 80 pilots from Australia and around the world. Competitors will fly tasks climbing up to 3000m, taking on triangles or out and returns of up to 100km. “It’s always good to see the pilots coming back year after year to enjoy Bright and the flying here,” said event organiser, Brian Webb. “We know we have a good venue and infra- structure for paragliding racing. We have weather stations set up on every site and the launches are well prepared. It’s great to see the experienced pilots showcase the area. Restaurants, coffee and swimming is pretty good here as well.” The Bright Open will feature the top tier of our Aussie PG pilots, as well as an elite group of overseas competitors. The North East Victoria Hang Gliding Club will host the pilots over the week-long event.
